The trail between the Gate 1 and Gate 2 campgrounds at Scotts Flat Reservoir will be closed on Wednesday, June 10 for vegetation removal to reduce wildfire risk.
The Nevada Irrigation District (NID) must close the trail between the two campgrounds for the safety of the public. Work crews will be using chainsaws and other equipment to cut ladder fuels and to remove hazard trees, and then to carry this material into areas where it can be accessed for cleanup.
The public will encounter “trail closed” and “area closed” signs at the silver gate off Scotts Flat Road, between the two campgrounds, and also on the trail if they walk or bike in from the boat ramp area at Gate 2 or from the Gate 1 side.
This work will improve forest health and reduce catastrophic fire risk on forested lands adjacent to the reservoir and to nearby residential communities.
NID thanks the public for patience and understanding while we work to reduce wildfire risk.
