Tomorrow morning, thousands of people will turn on a faucet, irrigate a field, or spend the day at one of NID's reservoirs without giving much thought to the system that makes it all possible.

That's exactly how it should be.

Behind every drop of water is more than a century of planning, investment, and stewardship.

As the Nevada Irrigation District celebrates its 105th anniversary, we're also looking ahead. Because the work of providing reliable water is never finished. Every generation inherits the system, strengthens it, and passes it on to the next.

For 14 weeks, our 105 Years Forward campaign has explored the people, places, and projects that make that possible—from the mountain watersheds where water begins to the reservoirs, canals, treatment plants, hydropower facilities, and dedicated employees who keep the system running every day.

We've shared stories about innovation, climate resilience, forest health, infrastructure improvements, and the science that helps prepare for an uncertain future. While the tools have changed over the past century, the mission has not.

NID continues to invest in stronger infrastructure, healthier watersheds, modern technology, and responsible stewardship so communities can continue to count on reliable water for generations to come. Those investments also support clean hydropower, thriving agriculture, recreation, and the quality of life that makes our region unique.

The challenges ahead will be different than those of 1921. Changing climate conditions, growing communities, and evolving water needs will require new ideas and continued collaboration. But the guiding principle remains the same: plan today for the people who will depend on this system tomorrow.

The story of NID has never been about a single project, reservoir, or generation.

It's about a promise.

A promise to care for the Sierra watersheds where every drop begins. A promise to maintain and strengthen the infrastructure that delivers water safely and reliably.

And a promise to leave the next generation with a water system even stronger than the one we inherited.
