NID Water Rates Committee Meetings Open to the Public

July 14, 2020

The Nevada Irrigation District is currently holding meetings of its Water Rates Committee to consider the best approach to implementing a new rate structure.

The Committee met on June 30th and reviewed the preliminary 2020 Cost of Service Study that focused on providing the historical cost to deliver raw and treated water to customers through specific infrastructure zones. Future revenue and expense assumptions must be arrived at to further develop the study into a Proposition 218 Rate Report.

The next two meetings of the Committee are currently scheduled to occur on Thursday, July 16 at 1 p.m. and Tuesday, July 28 at 11:00 a.m. and are open to the public via Zoom videoconferencing. Additional meetings may occur in August. Please check the NID website — nidwater.com — for more information. The meeting agendas will be posted on the website, along with a link to participate in the meeting via Zoom.

The full NID Board is expected to have a water rates workshop in late August or early September with adoption of a rate plan sometime in the fall. Any rate increases that are passed by the Board of Directors will be subject to the Proposition 218 notification and protest process.
