Nevada Irrigation District (NID) Directors elected new officers for 2021, during its Dec. 9 meeting. Present were Ricki Heck, Chris Bierwagen, Laura Peters and newly inducted Directors Rich Johansen and Karen Hull.
Directors elected new officers for 2021: Chris Bierwagen will serve as Board President, and Laura Peters will serve as Vice President. Director Bierwagen, a fourth generation farmer with extensive experience serving on local boards and agencies, was elected in 2018. Director Peters, a Civil Engineer with 26 years of practice in water resources, was also elected in 2018.
In other matters, Interim General Manager Greg Jones reported District water storage is 162,774 acre-feet, which is 60 percent of maximum capacity or 94 percent of a six-year average for the water year. Precipitation (as measured at Bowman Lake) is 33 percent of average at 4.91 inches.
The regular Board of Directors meeting scheduled for Dec. 23 has been canceled. The next meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021 via video-conference.
