CEQA

In 2025, NID prepared a Draft CEQA Supplemental Analysis in an Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) format for the Yuba-Bear Hydroelectric Project. The Draft CEQA Supplemental Analysis IS/MND was available for public review June 17- July 16, 2025.

As a result of public and agency comments on the Draft CEQA Supplemental Analysis IS/MND, NID is now preparing an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Yuba-Bear Hydroelectric Project.

NID released the Notice of Preparation for the EIR for a 30-day public comment period between December 30, 2025 – January 28, 2026. Public and agency comments received during this time are being incorporated into the Draft EIR for the Yuba-Bear Hydroelectric Project.

NID is currently conducting several analyses to support the Draft EIR. The Draft EIR will be available here for public review in the Summer of 2026. The public and agencies will have 45 days to review and provide comments on the Draft EIR once it is available. A Notice of Availability (NOA) of the Draft EIR will be sent to interested parties on the project mailing list when the Draft EIR has been released. If you are interested in being notified of the availability of the Draft EIR and other project-related events, please contact:
