The Nevada Irrigation District (NID) will temporarily close boat launches at Cascade Shores and Scotts Flat Reservoir on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026 to accommodate the Barbara Schmidt Millar Triathlon.

The annual event is back! Held at Cascade Shores, brings together participants for a sprint triathlon, relay and 5K run/walk in support of breast cancer prevention, screening and treatment programs at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

To accommodate event setup and ensure the safety of participants and visitors, the following temporary closures are scheduled:
• Cascade Shores Boat Launch: Closed Saturday, Aug. 29, at 3 p.m. for event setup. The launch will reopen Sunday, Aug. 30, at noon.
• Scotts Flat Campground Boat Launch: Closed Sunday, Aug. 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The Barbara Schmidt Millar Triathlon will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Cascade Shores.
NID encourages reservoir visitors to plan ahead and allow extra time when visiting the area during the event.
