The Nevada Irrigation District (NID) has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) granted the award for the report, which is independently audited, covering the fiscal year that ended December 31, 2019.
The association noted in a release that NID “had published an efficiently organized and easily readable report that exceeded both accounting principles and met applicable legal requirements.”
The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report,” according to the GFOA.
