(Grass Valley, CA May 11, 2021) - The Nevada Irrigation District (NID) announced the opening of the public review and comment period on an Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration for the English Meadow Floodplain Restoration and Enhancement Project. The public review and comment period opens May 12 and ends on June 13th at 5:00 p.m. A public Informational meeting will also be held on June 2, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.

The purpose of this project is to improve watershed and floodplain function within the montane meadow habitat, and increase the resilience of English Meadow and the surrounding forest to disturbances such as wildfire and climate change. Project implementation will take place on 380 acres in English Meadow within the headwaters of the Middle Yuba River in Nevada and Sierra Counties, about 1 mile upstream of Jackson Meadows Reservoir.

Jackson Meadows reservoir is used for recreation, clean hydroelectric power production and water supply for 25,000 agricultural and drinking water customers in Nevada, Placer and Yuba Counties.
