NID's Rollins Powerhouse is part of the
Yuba-Bear Project relicensing project.

NID built and operates the Yuba-Bear Hydroelectric Power Project under an original 50-year license granted by the federal government in 1963.

The district has initiated a multi-year effort with a goal of relicensing the power project with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) by 2013.

NID was formed in Nevada County in 1921 but five years later, expanded by 66,500 acres when residents of Placer County asked to join. About 25 percent of the district is located in Placer County.
